2023 Pet Lover’s Grant Applications are Due Soon!

CA Pet Lover Plate

CA Pet Lover Plate

The goal of the California Pet Lover’s License Plate continues to be realized. The plate, which hit the road in 2013 and was created by Judie Mancuso, Dr. Gary Michelson, and Linda Starr among others, including the support of Keely and Pierce Brosnan, who donated his artwork for the license plate, was designed to sustainably fund low cost and free spay and neuter programs throughout California. If you do not have the plate yet, please consider buying one at this link.

We are thrilled to announce that the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) will be granting out up to $488,000 in funding for the 2023 Pet Lover’s License Plate Grant Program (Pet Lover’s), which will mean over $1.5M dollars has now gone to spay and neuter!

As we prepare for the upcoming 2023-24 legislative year, we reflect on how we can best focus our advocacy to protect animals and the environment. We must continue to shape public policy to stop killing our wildlife, to stop killing our domestic animals, and to stop killing our planet.

The only way we can do that is with your help. We cannot thank you all enough for your past support. Your participation is essential for success!

We have not had a fundraiser in a few years due to Covid, but that does not mean we are not in need of funding to continue our work. As we head into the holiday season, please consider making a donation to support our vital work for upcoming two-year session.

Please donate to Social Compassion in Legislation (SCIL), our 501(c)(4), or Social Compassion, our 501(c)(3), when deciding where to invest your charitable dollars. Our two groups only exists with the donations provided by our supporters. It is because of you that we have been able to pass groundbreaking legislation that has saved the lives of millions of animals across the globe and provided humane education to thousands of children in California since our founding in 2007.

Please note you can donate to the 501c3 and receive a tax write-off, while donating to the 501c4 does not receive a write-off.

Thank you and Happy Holiday Season!
