AB 1881 Passes Assembly Appropriations! & Need Your Calls on Two Bills!

AB 1881, the Dogs & Cats Bill of Rights, Passes the Assembly Appropriations Committee!
We are thrilled to announce that today AB 1881, the Dog and Cat Bill of Rights, passed the Assembly Appropriations Committee with a 12-3 vote, with the Democrats voting ‘yes’ and all but one Republican voting ‘no’.
The bill, authored by Assemblymember Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles), describes the needs of dogs and cats in seven broad clauses ranging from the right to be free from cruelty and neglect to the right to daily mental stimulation and appropriate exercise. The list will be required to be posted and accessible to public view at all public animal control agencies or shelters, society for the prevention of cruelty to animals shelters, humane society shelter, or rescue groups in order to educate potential adopters.
The bill now moves to the floor for a vote by the full Assembly.
Please make a call to your Assemblymember urging them to vote “YES” on the bill by end of day Monday.
