State Assembly District 72 Candidate Judie Mancuso Wins Primary

Mancuso Heads to November General Election Against Career Politician Diane Dixon

Laguna Beach, CA – Nonprofit founder and CEO, and businesswoman Judie Mancuso, Democrat for the 72nd State Assembly District (AD) advances to the November General election after coming out on top in Tuesday’s primary. Mancuso, the California Democratic Party’s (CDP) endorsed candidate, will face perennial candidate Republican Diane Dixon in the November 8th General Election, who was rejected by Orange County voters in 2020.

“I am thankful to the voters in Assembly District 72 who put their confidence in me during this primary election,” said Mancuso. “As the founder of a nonprofit and a business leader, I know how to get things done. But for too long, career politicians like Diane Dixon have stood in the way of progress. Over the next several months I look forward to listening to and talking with the voters of the 72nd district. Now is not the time for political games, and I know the voters of the 72nd district share my priorities to protect our environment, defend women’s rights, and get guns off our streets and out of our schools. I look forward to a spirited debate with Councilwoman Dixon and to hear why she believes the same agenda Orange County voters rejected two years ago would be appealing in 2022.”

Mancuso has been endorsed by a wide array of community leaders and organizations in Orange County, Southern California and across the state including Governor Gavin Newsom and Congresswoman Katie Porter, Planned Parenthood, Jane Fonda’s Climate PAC, the Center for Biological Diversity, the Sierra Club, and Moms Demand Action.

“Judie Mancuso has dedicated her life to standing up for those who need it the most. She is a champion who has stood up to the special interests and will be a tireless fighter for our community. In the Assembly, Judie will continue being a voice for the voiceless and I am proud to endorse her,” stated current Congresswoman Katie Porter of Congressional District (CD) 45, who won her primary election in a landslide against her Republican opponent, for the newly drawn CD 47, which overlaps with Mancuso’s AD 72.

Mancuso is the founder, CEO, and president of Social Compassion in Legislation (SCIL), a 501(c)(4) political advocacy nonprofit founded in 2007 that sponsors and supports landmark legislation to protect and save people, animals, and the environment. Under her direction, SCIL has spearheaded over 50 state bills – including 19 that have been signed into law. Mancuso, a former two-term appointed member of the California Veterinary Medical Board and the current vice chair of the Laguna Beach Environmental Sustainability Committee, was named one of the top 10 of the top 100 most influential people in Orange County in 2019 by the Orange County Register.
