Social Compassion, a 501(c)(3) organization, and sister group to the well-known animal advocacy group, Social Compassion in Legislation, has partnered with Volunteers of America – Los Angeles (VOALA)  and Humane Education Advocates Reaching Teachers (HEART) to develop and implement a humane education curriculum for Head Start programs.

New Federal Trade Commission complaint filed about Canada Goose’s ‘ethical sourcing’ claims

New York, NY - A complaint regarding Canada Goose Holding Inc.’s advertising practices has been filed with the Federal Trade Commission on behalf of U.S. and Canadian groups Social Compassion in Legislation, Voters for Animal Rights, and The Fur-Bearers.

Sometimes multiple groups will introduce bills on the same subject. It happened this year to us with two bills. Fur sales and Blood Banks. We were working on a bill that would ban fur sales and fur trapping, we did extensive polling, we were confirming our author when out of nowhere Assemblymember Laura Friedman introduced AB 44 for HSUS.

AB 1260 & SB 313 Signed into Law! GOVERNOR NEWSOM SIGNS CIRCUS CRUELTY PREVENTION ACT

Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 313 (Senator Bill Hueso, D-San Diego) into law today, meaning species such as elephants, monkeys, bears and tigers will no longer be forced to perform in circuses.
